Those pesky hills…

First- Congrats to Jack- I’m sure we’ll hear all about her result on the weekend! Well done!

So, today was much better runspiration-wise. Maybe better songs on the iPod, better temperature, who knows- but it was a good (little) run and I enjoyed myself so surely that is a good thing.

 So- what I need now is some hillspiration- how on earth does one convince oneself to run up a hill??

Any suggestions??

  1. I know it sounds crazy, but I try to get a kind of jump-rhythm and say to myself “punch, punch, punch” – and make some kind of forward motion with arms pumping – while going up the hill. It’s very GI Jane kind of mentally inspiring for some very bizarre reason. Something about gritting your teeth and leaning forward while saying “punch” with each stride. Lemme know what you think, Nellie! :)

  2. When I have a daunting hill to go up I turn the iPod to my trusty stand-by, Pump It (Black Eyed Peas). There is something about the rhythm of that song that gets the knees going and gets me up the hill every time.
